Flowers Digital Collection
Over the last few years I have spent my summers in New York City, where it can get so hot that it is uncomfortable to move. Although I love my city, I don't like it when the temperature rises. When I am feeling down or anxious, I like to step outside, breathe in the fresh air, and enjoy nature. But the only nature nearby was five flights of stairs away, followed by a sweaty walk to Central Park, or flowers in buckets at the corner store. I was lucky to spend the end of last summer in Brooklyn, which has more parks and beaches. When I meandered around Brooklyn, I loved seeing flowers in gardens and smelling the salt water at Marine Park beach. I remembered that nature has always been a big part of my life, and the anticipation of Northeastern winters makes me look forward to it. After watching the vibrant flowers bloom in my aunt's small garden in Brooklyn, I moved back to Long Island, where nature is plentiful. I'm very excited to live closer to nature now that the weather is warming up. I'm not sure where I'll be next year, but my goal for now is to stay present and enjoy the flowers.
